| Training It is imperative you check that your therapist is fully qualified and registered with the Colonic Association www.colonic-association.org.uk. Unfortunately, at present, no formal qualifications or experience are required to set up as a Colon Hydrotherapist. I trained at the Midland School of Colonic Hydrotherapy which is one of the four approved (and inspected) Colonic Hydrotherapy training colleges. All the colleges achieve the standards set by the Association of Registered Colon Hydrotherapists (ARCH). The training is a post graduate course which requires pre-requisite qualifications. I have personally always had a very strong interest with all matters that effect the anatomy and physiology of the body. For my A Levels I studied Human Biology, Psychology and Sport Studies, before achieving a 2:1 Degree in Sports Science. I have also taught fitness classes since 1998 which enables me to promote health as well as fitness. You may visit a Registered Colon Hydrotherapist with confidence when they ARE personally listed on the register. If therapists are not listed, they may not have sufficent training and education to meet the pre-requistes (which enable them to train with the association) Kay Brown (Bsc) | | The Association & Register Of Colon Hydrotherapists (ARCH) The Association & Register Of Colon Hydrotherapists (formerly the Colonic International Association) was founded in 1987 by Dr. Milo Siewert M.D. (Mexico), D.C. (USA), as a professional association of qualified therapists. It is the only professional body in the UK to maintain a register of qualified colon hydrotherapists, and oversees training standards. Its members adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and are subject to premise inspections and are periodically re-inspected. Therapists are also bound to a minimum annual input of continued professional development, thus ensuring public confidence and security. | | |
