Training

It is imperative you check that your therapist is fully qualified and registered with a registered association, unfortunately no formal qualifications or experience is required to set up as a Colon Hydrotherapist.

I trained at the Midland School of Colonic Hydrotherapy which is one of the approved (and inspected) Colonic Hydrotherapy training colleges. The training is a post graduate course which requires pre-requisite qualifications. This school is run by Clare Davies and is one of four in the country that achieve the standards set by the Association of Registered Colon Hydrotherapists (ARCH).

You may visit a Registered Colon Hydrotherapist with confidence when they are personally listed on the register. To be on the Register a therapist must either have been trained and experienced in orthodox medicine (e.g. doctor, dentist or nurse) or have satisfactory training in anatomy and physiology and considerable training and experience in a body-based complementary therapy other than colonic therapy.

The Association & Register Of Colon Hydrotherapists (ARCH)

The Association & Register Of Colon Hydrotherapists (formerly the Colonic International Association) was founded in 1987 by Dr. Milo Siewert M.D. (Mexico), D.C. (USA), as a professional association of qualified therapists. It is the only professional body in the UK to maintain a register of qualified colon hydrotherapists, and oversees training standards. Its members adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and are subject to premise inspections and are periodically re-inspected. Therapists are also bound to a minimum annual input of continued professional development, thus ensuring public confidence and security.
